ABOUT

MILWAUKEE LUTHIER: JACK STRONG

3rd Story Guitars came to life in the attic of my childhood home. While only in high school, I combined a love of woodworking and a passion for guitars. I began painting and building guitars that found their way into the hands of players around the world even before I graduated.

While learning the art of guitar building at the Roberto-Venn School of Lutherie, I came up with the design for the Triggerfish, my own electric and bass guitars. With these designs, I strive for timelessness while taking advantage of new developments to enhance tone and playability. My custom, hand-built electric and bass guitars pay homage to classic design and craftsmanship while embracing modern enhancements with a tastefully aggressive direction. The Triggerfish has an edge that sets you apart from the crowd coupled with a feel and sound that will make it your go-to guitar.

Going back to my days in the attic, I became quite obsessed with custom painting guitar bodies. I’m just as passionate about it today. So, in addition to hand-building my originally designed guitars, I custom paint classic guitar body shapes for people looking to assemble their own guitars. When painting guitar bodies, I work to create schemes that are simultaneously familiar but always bring something different to the table. My love of precision and attention to detail comes through in the finished work and relic. Each painted guitar or bass body is its own playable work of art.
